Oyanagi Construction

Role: Design Director, Remote Collaboration Feature
2017

Microsoft Mixed Reality Studios partnered with Japanese construction company Oyanagi to design and build a mixed reality solution that enables holographic visualization of an end-to-end construction process. I contributed design direction to the phase 3 remote collaboration feature, which represents live participants as 3D mixed reality avatars.

The avatars feature streamlined, neutral visual display with partial body representation and semi-transparent skins to avoid 3D model occlusion; organic physical motion; color-coded participant designation; iconography to specify participant speaking, listening, or highlighting part of a collaboratively viewed hologram; and hydrations to signal entry and exit of participants,
